ABOUT US

Our Mission

At the CBCF, our mission is straightforward yet meaningful: to discover a cure for breast cancer by supporting innovative research.

Founded in 2007, the CBCF funds groundbreaking science under the direction of Dr. Larry Norton at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, working with leading researchers worldwide to accelerate the discovery of a cure for breast cancer.

We support research that transforms the world’s understanding and treatment of cancer. Unlike traditional funding that often comes with restrictions, we give researchers the freedom to pursue ideas that could revolutionize how we prevent, treat, and cure cancer. This freedom has already led to discoveries that have saved lives, and with your support, we can ignite the next wave of breakthroughs.

Our History

CBCF was born from one child’s love for her mother. When Carly Albinder’s (née Abramson)  mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, 12-year-old Carly began making beaded key rings to raise money for research. With the support of family and friends, she sold more than 700 key rings and donated over $10,000 to Dr. Larry Norton at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where her mother was a patient.

Inspired by Carly’s determination, her father, Andrew Abramson, set out to build something lasting. In October 2007, they founded the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation to fuel bold scientific discoveries that bring us closer to a cure.

Since then, CBCF has raised more than $13 million to support groundbreaking research led by Dr. Norton and his collaborators worldwide—work that is changing how doctors understand and treat breast cancer.

CBCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
