CBCF Raises More Than $100,000 To Support Breast Cancer Research With Two Separate Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events
Clifton, N.J. – Two annual fundraising events held during last year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month raised in excess of $100,000 for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF), a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that supports the research efforts of Dr. Larry Norton, Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Breast Cancer Programs and the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
In early October, the 4th annual Valley Goes Pink! Cancer Walk sponsored by Valley National Bank raised more than $85,000 with thousands of participants gathering for the event at 1460 Valley Road in Wayne, N.J. The yearly walk featured games, prizes, a 50/50 raffle and free food and beverages. Mr. G, one of New York’s most popular TV & radio weather experts, was also on hand to support the event.
“We’d like to extend a special thank you to the Valley Goes Pink Committee and all the volunteers who helped make the event so successful through their support and dedication each year,” says Andrew Abramson, co-founder of CBCF. “We’re also grateful to the countless employees, family members and friends who came out to walk and raise money for CBCF. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support, efforts and dedication and look forward to continued success and another great event next year.”
The 2013 Valley Goes Pink! Cancer Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th.
The Valley Goes Pink! Cancer Walk was quickly followed in late October by the 5th annual Salons For The Cure Walk-A-Thon at Verona Park in Verona, N.J. CBCF joined with five of the region’s most prominent Salons to raise more the $16,000. Participating Salons included Shag86, Panico Salon & Spa, Bangz Salon & Spa, Avanti Salon and Spa and Bella Salon which provided on-site services including pink hair extensions, polish changes, chair massages and pink ribbon air brush tattoos.
Additional participants and sponsors included Hibachi Heaven, Master Suites, XVIO, Valley National Bank, Michael Matarazzo Landscaping, Bagel Bakery, Corporate Essentials. Goldberg Peanut Chews, Mike & Ike Candy and Hawaiian Kettle Cooked Chips. DJ Envy from MTV2, Power 105.1 and Sirius XM also made a special guest appearance.
“The support of local businesses such as the participants in the Valley Goes Pink! Cancer Walk and Salons for a Cure Walk-A-Thon is essential to our efforts to help find a cure for breast cancer and shows their commitment to the communities they serve runs deep,” Mr. Abramson points out. “They’ve been critical to our success and we can’t express enough how thankful we are to the sponsor companies and organizations and all those who have participated in events throughout the year.”
